Winter Youth Olympic Games | Team China participated in the alpine skiing speed competition for the first time.

Xinhua News Agency, Jingshan, South Korea, January 21st (Reporter Lu Xingji) In the alpine skiing women’s super slalom competition of the gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games held here on the 21st, the athletes of the China team participated in the alpine skiing speed competition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games for the first time.
China sent two teenagers, Zhang Guiyuan and Wang Ning, who were born in 2006, to participate in the competition, and both of them successfully completed the competition route. Among the 56 athletes who actually participated in the competition, Zhang Guiyuan ranked 45th in 1 minute, 1.66 seconds, and Wang Ning ranked 47th in 1 minute, 2.27 seconds.
On January 21st, Zhang Guiyuan was in the competition. Xinhua News Agency reporter Li Mingshe In the classification of alpine skiing events, slalom and giant slalom are classified as skills, while super slalom and downhill are classified as speed. Speed events are regarded as the "pearl" in snow events because of their large drop, long line and high speed, which have extremely high requirements for venue conditions and skaters’ sliding skills. Due to the lack of venues and talents to carry out the project, speed projects started late in China.
After the game, Zhang Guiyuan said that he was immersed in the excitement of participating in the Winter Youth Olympic Games for the first time. "I can successfully finish the race and compete with masters from all over the world. Now I still feel my heart pounding and I am very excited." She said after the game.
On January 21st, Zhang Guiyuan (right front) celebrated the race with Xiao Fangxuan, the leader of China Alpine Ski Team of gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games. Xinhua News Agency reporter Li Mingshe "I didn’t participate in the Winter Youth Olympic Games before, so I also compared with other athletes in the competition, went to see their routes, and thought about which flag gate I had not handled well. I have learned a lot these days and know where the seconds behind others are. " Wang Ning said.
Wang Ning said that the result of this competition was close to expectations. "I feel that there is a big gap compared with the top players in the world. I mainly hold the mentality of learning and following up."
"It’s like this now (the gap is big), it doesn’t mean that it will be like this in the future. I think we can catch up with them better in the future." She added.
On January 21st, Wang Ning was in the competition. Xinhua News Agency reporter Li Mingshe According to Zhang Guiyuan, at present, the National Alpine Ski Center and other venues in China have been able to provide their daily training and competitions with speed events that are not inferior to those of the Winter Youth Olympic Games venues.
"Now the domestic track, for example, used in our’ Fourteenth Winter Games’ (the 14th National Winter Games), is very close to or even better than today’s track." Zhang Guiyuan said.
"If you want to talk about the super giant slalom, I think the track of Haituo Mountain (National Alpine Ski Center) is more powerful." She added.
On January 21st, Zhang Guiyuan was in the competition. Xinhua News Agency reporter Li Mingshe Next, the two teenagers will also participate in the slalom and giant slalom competitions. Zhang Guiyuan said that their current training is on par with top foreign players, and they strive to be comprehensive in project categories and techniques.
